23!
My birthday this year was extra special because my mom and Summer came to visit us for the week! They landed the night of my birthday and we picked them up, opened presents, and chatted until 4 in the morning😐
Per Summer's request, our first day was spent at the pool. This week has been very hot so a good pool day was very needed. We stayed until we had to start getting ready for my birthday dinner.
We ate at the Angus Barn which is a place I've been wanting to try! This place was very cool, great food, and we had the best server I've ever seen. He even gave me a ginormous dessert for free for my birthday.
After dinner, we went to Downtown Cary Park to walk around and enjoy the weather as it was cooling down. This is one of Clayton and I's favorite places to walk around and I think they liked it too.
The next day we started our day with Starbucks and went to the mall. Summer and I were on a mission to find a matching outfit.
Then we ate at Torchys and ended our day with some evening swimming and grilled dinner.
The next day was the 4th of July! We started with going to an escape room. No we did not get out and don't ask about it. I'm still mad about it.
Then we took them to the UNC campus which they haven't seen before. My mom kept spotting the UNC blue everywhere (but she knows she still has to be a Duke fan).
We spent the evening in Fenton for dinner. We tried this new restaurant and it was so good! We walked around and relaxed and chatted until we had to head to fireworks.
We went to a firework show in Cary that we'd never been before and it was so cool! We sat right next to the water and watched the fireworks over the trees. They also had food trucks and live music. Definitely will go here next year if we're in town.
And we had to make sure Summer tried Cookout on the way home.
For our last day together, we spent the morning at the pool and ordered lunch. For the evening, we went to Downtown Durham for dinner. We took them to Tobacco road which is one of our go to spots downtown.
We saw the Burts Bees headquarters were downtown which was funny because Clayton and I never knew that before. On the way home, we stopped for ice cream near our apartment. Then we made sure to play Scattergories a few times before we went to sleep.
This trip was way too short but also felt like we got some well needed time together. This was a great first week of being 23. Hopefully the rest of this year feels this great!
