 Update time! My break was supposed to be from December 17th - January 26th but that has not been the case! This break is already longer than my other breaks, but the snow storm has nicely extended it. The first 3 days I was supposed to be back were completely canceled and fully remote. Luckily I didn't have to try and teach on zoom, but could just assign mini asynchronous lessons for them to complete at home. The last 2 days of the week were delays, so classes were shorter and I got to sleep in. Then we got another snow storm, and today school is completely canceled as well, planning for cancelations and delays tomorrow. ANDDDD, it's supposed to snow again on Wednesday. I still haven't been back for a normal day of school yet. For the quarter only being 9 weeks, I already know it's going to fly by because of all this snow. Clayton's job is also weather dependent so we have been able to hibernate together :)

Also, I didn't know that snow storms have names like Hurricanes do, so I was surprised to learn that Fern is who I have to thank for all this time off. We actually ended up getting like 3 inches yesterday, which was the least that North Carolina got which is kind of crazy. I was under the impression that it did not snow here, but honestly I've been enjoying the chaos. I do miss my kiddos though. I didn't think I'd be saying that at the end of last quarter, but here I am.

There are multiple reasons why I had the sudden urge to start a blog.  1: I was inspired by my cousin Becca as she was open to sharing her recent life experiences.  2: I stopped journaling when I went off to college a few years ago and wanted to write about my life through a different outlet.  3: I want documentation of my feelings, memories, and experiences for years to come.  Since this is my first post, I want to set the scene of what life is currently like. Teaching Updates!

If you've been keeping up with my blog posts, you already know that I have finished up my first month of teaching! (Today is my last teacher workday). As much as I am going to miss my 8th graders, most of them anyway, I am so excited to be teaching 7th grade next year! I have started moving my stuff over to my new classroom and I am just so excited. My new room is bigger because it used to be a science room, so I keep thinking of millions of ideas of what to do with the space. I didn't decorate my first room because I had a feeling I would be switching classrooms so it never felt homey to me. I am determined to make my next classroom feel like mine without spending all my money on it haha. I think that the atmosphere of a classroom makes more of a difference than people think, so I am prioritizing it.  I have also started mingling with the 7th grade teachers, specifically the ELA department. We Graduated!

We graduated! It was so much fun having everyone in town to help us move and celebrate! We ended up being able to move out of our apartment a day earlier than planned which ended up being so nice. We had a 33 hour drive ahead of us in our u-haul going from Idaho to North Carolina. We were told that since the u-haul was pulling our car, we would only be able to drive 55 mph tops! Our original plan was to split this up into 3 very long driving days (9 hours, 15 hours, and 15 hours with accounting for our driving speed and stops).  The first day we drove to see Clayton’s grandparents which was nice! I’d never been to their house before so I got a chance to look through all of her old photos from Clayton’s side of the family. Once we left their house in the morning, we never stopped driving. We ended up being able to go 90 mph in the u-haul and we kept trading off driving and napping.
